Kenyan ambassador and Ethiopian embassy official to visit countrymen today

 

May 27, 2010 – Ottawa – Two African elite athlete delegations will be receiving well wishes from their embassies on Friday, May 27th.

 

The First Counsellor of the Embassy of Ethiopia Mr. Belay Gebreselassie Kidane will be visiting the elite athletes from his country, at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 27th, also in Suite 2422 of the Marriott Hotel, 100 Kent Street, Ottawa.

 

Twenty Ethiopians are registered to compete during Race Weekend, including last year’s 10K winner Deriba Merga and top female contender Dire Tune.

 

The ambassador of Kenya, Mr. Simon Nebukwesi will be visiting the Kenyan elite athletes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27th. The visit will also take place in Suite 2422 of the Marriott Hotel. The visit will be an opportunity for the ambassador to wish his fellow countrymen and women well on their races.

 

In all, 24 Kenyans will be running in the Ottawa 10K and Ottawa Marathon this weekend, including David Cheruiyot, four-time Ottawa Marathon winner.
